You Are A Badass

I knew I was late to read the following book, but after several recommendations, I finally decided to try it.

You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero is a self-help book that will empower you to “Stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life.

First and foremost, I found this book easy to read and understand. As you read it, you feel energized and reinvigorated, and you begin to see yourself as the badass you are. In it, Sincero talks about what brings us to a place of feeling unworthy and the money issues that often come with that.

What I loved most is how each chapter closes with a reminder to love yourself. Especially when we’re on the journey of self-discovery, it’s so important to be kind and gentle to ourselves.

In the book, Jen talks about her struggles before, during, and after she made a living off her talents. She also describes the steps she took to get there, which I found extremely helpful. When we think of successful people, we tend to think they always had their sh*t together, even though that is rarely the case. And while it’s unfortunate that people often struggle on the path to their purpose, it does build character (and usually makes for better stories)!

She specifically mentions attending seminars to network and hiring a mentor. It had never occurred to me that you can hire people to further your goals, but according to Jen, it’s a crucial part of the process. She also discusses the dilemmas she faced and how she found a way to invest in herself despite her financial limitations. Inspired by her story, I’ve begun reaching out to people in my own community who I hope can push me to grow and become closer to the person I aspire to be.

The book contains several tips, largely based on the law of attraction. Among these are to be present, practice gratitude, say affirmations, not compare yourself to others, let go of what others think of you, trust yourself, and love yourself—which I think we can all agree is a good thing to strive for. Overall, You Are a Badass is a good fast read. After finishing it, you’ll feel empowered and that much closer to reaching your full potential. Although Jen and I are on different journeys in life, I feel like a lot of what she did might be helpful to me also. While I already strive to think positively, love myself, and practice gratitude, You Are a Badass has reminded me to never stop trying.
